On July 19, 2014, Phillip Ray Shepherd, 52, of Sandyville passed away at home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 25, 1961 to the late Robert and Glennis Shepherd of Sandyville. He was a 1981 graduate of Ripley High School. He worked for several years with Carl E. Smith Inc., and was a 30 plus year member of Laborers Local 1085. He was a member of Shatto Road Tabernacle.
Phil was an avid farmer, hunter, and loved spending time with his family at their cabin in the mountains. One thing he will be remembered for was showing off his many puzzles and tricks to any person or stranger.
Phil is survived by his loving wife Sandy, their two daughters Tonya (Scott) Jones and Danielle (Cody) Rhodes all of Sandyville. He was most proud of his grandbabies which he saw almost daily, Isiah and Madison Jones and Carter and Wesley Rhodes all of Sandyville. Brother and friend Gary Shepherd of Sandyville as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins and In-laws.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will follow at eh Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call on the family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at eh funeral home.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston or to Alex’s Lemonade stand in memory of Gavin Morris.
