  • JACKSON COUNTY - Tuesday afternoon’s severe storm that blew through Jackson County dumped heavy rain, and downed trees and utility lines.
At press time, some 39,000 Mon Power customers were still without power including many east of Ripley toward Spencer.
Sporadic outages were left across much of the county including interrupted phone service that disrupted credit/debit transactions in some businesses.
On Route 56 near the Silverton Grange Hall, a down tree also took down power lines, forcing traffic to be re-routed.
On Cedar Lakes Road, a motorist barely escaped tragedy when a huge tree fell, taking off his side mirror and landing just behind the vehicle for the most part.
There were reports of toppled trees in Ravenswood and Ripley as well.
