  • Dorothy Elouise Parsons,76, of Evans, WV, passed away July 3, 2014, at her home.
    She was born January 25, 1938, in Gay, WV, a daughter of the late Moody Allen and Madge Emily (Litton) Parsons. Her daughters, Janice Steele and Tami Lynn Roush, and a brother, Dwight Parsons, also preceded her in death.
    She was a retired certified electrician from Florida Power and Light in Ft. Lauderdale, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Union Local # 179, Pompano Beach, FL. She was a life member of the Ripley Post 5501, VFW Auxiliary, the Ripley Post 107, American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW National Home for Children.
    She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening, and she was a member of the Ripley Church of Christ.
    Survivors include her sons, Rickey Smith of Medina, Jeffrey Smith of Evans, and Joseph “Max” Roush, Jr. of Fairplain; daughter, Brenda Joyce of Evans; brothers, Rossie Parsons of Ripley, Dana Parsons of Gay, and Stanley Parsons of Spencer; sisters, Doreen Thomas and Sharon Nutter both of Gay, Delma Miller of Spencer, Doris Mae West of Fairplain, and Sandra Roush of Ravenswood; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
    Service will be 7 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with Minister Brent Dewees officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service. Committal service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV.
