RIPLEY – Three members of the Ripley Lady Viking softball team were named to the Class AAA All State team released last Sunday.
Senior pitcher Chelsey Hager was a First Team All-State selection as a pitcher.  Hager wrapped up a dominant high school career with a stellar senior season, finishing with a record of 15-6 on the mound with a 1.16 ERA and 193 strikeouts.  She also led the Lady Vikes at the plate, batting .344 with a .438 on base percentage, 6 home runs, and 27 RBIs.

Senior second baseman Meghan Brannon was a Special Honorable Mention All-State selection, closing out her high school career with a team leading .376 batting average, a .402 OBP, 38 hits, and 21 RBIs.  Brannon was able to bounce back from a broken wrist that cut her junior season short.

Junior catcher Ashley Mellinger was the other Lady Viking honoree, also being named to the Class AAA All-State Special Honorable Mention team.  Mellinger had an impressive year at the plate, finishing with a .356 batting average, a .438 OBP, 32 hits, 3 home runs, and 22 RBIs for the Lady Vikings.
Hager, Mellinger, and Brannon led the Lady Vikings to a 21-9 record and a second straight state tournament appearance.
