RAVENSWOOD - Heritage Christian Academy of Ravenswood, WV, is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school term.
HCA offers classes for grades k4 – 12 using a Bible-based curriculum, teaching Biblical principles in all classes. HCA has weekly chapel services, college prep courses, a modest dress code, high school boys and girls sports.
HCA also participates in the West Virginia Christian Education Association Fine Arts competitions for elementary, junior high, and senior high students, along with the American Association of Christian Schools national fine arts competition for high school students who qualify.
Hal Bigley, principal of Heritage Christian Academy, says that the main goal of HCA is to lead boys and girls to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and then train them in the knowledge of God and the Christian way of life.
“Although we like to see our students graduate from HCA to work in the ministry, we understand that God does not call everyone into the ministry. We have several graduates who are working in other fields such as business, law, medicine, engineering, education, and manufacturing, just to name a few.” said Bigley.
HCA has been training boys and girls since it began in 1975 as a ministry of Second Baptist Church. Dr. S. R. Parsons, Jr., Administrator of HCA, states that HCA will continue to teach based upon the principles of God’s Word. “We want our young people to be taught based upon God’s Word so when they become adults and have to make their own decisions, they have been given the foundation they need to make the right decisions.”
HCA also offers a co-op with homeschool families in the area. This past school year, homeschool students come to the school in Fridays to participate in gym, art, and theatre classes with the HCA students. Plans are to offer this again in the upcoming school year.
As members of the West Virginia Christian Education Association, and American Association of Christian Schools, HCA receives many benefits such as achievement testing assistance, teacher training seminars, and fine arts and sports competitions with other Christian schools around West Virginia.
