  • Jackson County Commission Meeting Update

  • RIPLEY - Jackson County Commission met for its regular session April 30, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting began by conducting group prayer led by Tommy Nutter followed by the pledge of allegiance. Once these two tasks had been completed we were asked to take our seats and the meeting began.
    There were no appointments scheduled for today’s meeting therefore we progressed on to old business, which pertained to the Sheriff’s building bids. There are currently no bids placed on the building.
     Moving on down the agenda the commission went on to approve the exonerations submitted by Assessor Brian Thomas. The commission also approved the fiduciary paperwork as submitted by Fiduciary Supervisor. The County Commission also approved the “Jackson County Commission Community Development and Housing Needs Assessment Plan.”
    Continuing on to Commissioners reports as followed:
    •    Mike Randolph had one meeting postponed however he attended two military funerals, one this past Friday and one Monday. Also he attended the Boy Scout Banquet April 29, 2014 at the armory. They said it was a success and all had a good time while participating in a D.A.R.E. fundraiser for Saturday’s golf event.
    •    Tommy Nutter attended a 4-H Banquet this past week and attended a workforce meeting Friday, They should receive summer money for the kids.
    •    Dick Waybright attended Pancake Breakfast Saturday as well as the Joe’s Run Dinner where fried ham, fried potatoes, bacon, cornbread, and assortment of deserts were served.   
    There were no public comments at the meeting therefore it was adjourned.  See future editions of Jackson Herald for updated stories regarding the JC Commission activities.
