  • Devilettes finish second at LKC playoff

  • GLENVILLE - Coach Cindy Carmichael’s Ravenswood Red Devilettes (16-7) shutout Roane County (6-0) and were shut-out by Ritchie County (6-0) in the LKC softball playoff at Glenville to finish as conference runners-up for 2014.
    In the semifinals, the Devilettes continued their dominance of the Raiders (3-0 this season) with a 6-0 shut-out win.
    Savana Casto twirled a two-hitter, fanning nine and walking two over the seven innings to record the victory.
    C. Lassiter took the loss, fanning six, walking none and allowing 12 Ravenswood hits.
    Ariana Kennedy led the Devilettes at the plate with a 4-for-4 game including a triple and RBI. Katie Buckbee went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI; Heather Randolph added two hits, and Claudia Cubides (two RBIs), Sidnee Morgan and Casto (RBI), one single each.
    Cassie Taylor and Lassiter collected the only Raider hits off Casto—one single each.
    In the LKC championship game, Micah Ray tossed a three-hitter for the Ritchie County Rebels (semifinal winners over Doddridge County) to hand the Devilettes a 6-0 shut-out loss. Ray fanned seven and walked none.
    Casto took the mound loss, fanning five, walking three and scattering five Rebel hits.
    Kenna DeLancey led the Rebels with three hits including a triple and double and two RBIs. Vanessa Tallman and T. Lamp added one single each.
    For Ravenswood, Bayli Manns went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles; and Sidnee Morgan added a single.
    Ravenswood dropped a 6-2 decision to the visiting Ripley Lady Vikings Saturday at Eastwood.
    Chelsey Hager tossed a two-hitter for the Vikings, fanning nine, walking one and scattering six Devilette hits.
    Savana Casto took the loss, fanning one, walking three and allowing 11 Lady Viking hits.
    Hager helped her own cause by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a homer and two doubles and three RBIs. K Moore (RBI) and K Murphy added two singles each; Dusti Fisher, a double; and D Peterson, Hannah Ford and M McCann, one single each.
    For Ravenswood, Bayli Manns (RBI) collected two hits including a home run. Sidnee Morgan added a double (RBI); and Ariana Kennedy, Heather Randolph and Mackenzie Stutler, one hit each.
    Ravenswood faces Roane County in the opening round of the sectional tournament today (Tuesday) at 5 p.m. at Ellenboro.
