  • Casto tosses no-no, one hitter, two hitter, Devilettes sweep

  • EASTWOOD – Ravenswood’s Red Devilettes swept a doubleheader from visiting Braxton County Saturday at Eastwood and a road doubleheader Wednesday at Mount Zion over host Calhoun County to move to 7-1 on the season.
    Junior ace Savana Casto pitched a one hitter and two hitter Saturday and a no hitter and two innings of one-hit ball Wednesday.
    The Devilettes exploded for nine runs in each of the first two innings Saturday to trample the Braxton County Eagles 18-0 in three innings in the first of two games Saturday at Eastwood. Savana Casto (four RBIs) ripped a three-run line drive homer over the center field fence in the first inning. Katie Buckbee added a double and single; and Bayli Manns and Heather Randolph, two singles and two RBIs each. Sidnee Morgan chipped in a double and two RBIs; and Ariana Kennedy (three RBIs) and Claudia Cubides (RBI), one single each. Lauren Hoff added a RBI. Ravenswood collected ten hits in the three-inning game.
    Jazmine Valdierso had Braxton’s lone hit.
    Casto fanned five and walked none in the one hitter.
    Makila Carr took the loss for the Eagles, pitching just two-thirds inning with four walks, six hits and nine runs allowed. Montana Carr came on to toss one and one-third innings with nine walks, four hits and nine runs allowed.
    In the second game, Ravenswood scored five runs in the top of the fourth to blow open a close game and go on to win 10-5.
    Casto tossed a five hitter with seven strikeouts, five hits and one walk over seven inning of work.
    Jazmine Valdierso hit a solo homer and Logan Frame added a single for the Eagles.
    Tiffany Conrad took the mound loss for the Eagles, fanning two, walking 10 and allowing eight hits and 10 runs (eight earned).
    Casto collected a double and single and four RBIs; Buckbee a double (two RBIs); Sidnee Morgan a double. Bayli Manns (two RBIs), Lauren Hoff and Jordan Strickland added one single each.
    At Mount Zion Wednesday, Savana Casto tossed a no hitter with just one walk over three innings in a 18-0 Ravenswood win in the first game.
    Shayla Arnold took the loss for Calhoun County, walking two and allowing 14 hits.
    At the plate, Ariana Kennedy led the way for  the Devilettes with a double and two singles. Savana Casto (RBI) added two doubles, Katie Buckbee (RBI) and Sidnee Morgan (two RBIs), a double and single each; Bayli Manns, two singles; Claudia Cubides, a homer and three RBIs; and Heather Randolph (two RBIs) and Jordan Strickland (RBI), one single each.
    Ravenswood scored 13 runs in the top of the third inning after leading 1-0 through two innings.
    In the second game of the twinbill, Ravenswood scored five runs in each of the second and third innings to win 11-0 in three innings.
    Page 2 of 2 - Casto got the pitching win, whoring two innings with four strikeouts and one hit allowed, Dezirae Lester tossed the third inning, allowing one hit.
    Autumn Jones took the loss for the Calhoun Red Devils, fanning two, walking two and allowing eight hits and 11 runs.
    Savana Casto (three RBIs) went three-for-three at the plate with three doubles to lead the Devilettes. Heather Randolph (RBI) and Dezirae Lester (RBI) added two singles each; and Claudia Cubies, a double and three RBIs.
    Kayla Lamb and Callie Cooper had one single each for Calhoun County.
