Albert Joseph Durback, 90, of Evans, WV, passed away January 19, 2014, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV.

He was born January 17, 1924, in Hazelton, PA, a son of Michael John and Anna (Petrokubi) Durback.  His son, Michael William “Bill” Durback, a brother, Michael, and his sister, Margaret Riemer, also preceded him in death.

He was a World War II, United States Navy veteran, and later received his bachelor’s of science in chemistry from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV.  He retired at the age of 78, as the General Manager from Kelley Paving. He enjoyed old movies, and attending his grandchildren’s athletic and dance activities.

Al, was able to spend his 90th birthday at home while surrounded by his entire family.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara Jean (Donavan) Durback; daughters, and their husbands, Darlene and Earle Orendorff of Gastonia, NC, Cindy and Donny Miller of Evans, and Diane and Stephen Franklin of Ripley; son and his wife, Greg and Ava Durback of Ripley; 11 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Snyder, and Jackson General Hospital for the devoted and loving care given them over the past years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Ravenswood, WV, with Father James DeViese officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, with military honors by American Legion Post #107, Ripley. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m.  Wednesday, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV.
