  • RIPLEY - Ripley High senior forward Sarah Williams is making the most of her last season on court for the blue and white.
With two double-doubles under her belt (double figures in two categories in one game) this season, she played her most dominating game to date versus Shady Spring at Ripley Health Center on Monday evening as the Lady Vikings took down the Tigers 59-45 for the second time this season.
Williams, an Honorable Mention Class AAA All State selection last season, notched 25 points, 15 rebounds and 11 steals in what is surley one of the most dominating performances in the county over the last two seasons.
“Sarah is playing as well as anyone in our conference (MSAC). In watching film, I realize what she does for our team. She is all over the floor making plays for us,” said Coach Justin Frashier.
The Lady Vikings were coming off a heartbreaking loss to cross county rival Ravenswood that saw Ripley shoot poorly down the stretch from the free-throw line and squander a 10 point halftime lead in a 58-55 loss to the Devilettes.
Ripley took over the game in the second quarter on the hot shooting of Savannah Williams and Emily Oldham. Williams was an enforcer on the boards collecting offensive rebounds alongside post-player Jade Donohew, which gave Ripley second chance shots at the bucket.
Ripley led 20-14 at intermission and came out firing in the third on the shoulders of Sarah Williams’ aggressive play.
The Lady Vikings slammed the door shut with a 24 point fourth period.
Point guard Chelsey Hager played well in the contest, knocking down a trey and finishing with nine points and five assists.
Ripley shot much better from the charity stripe in this contest, connecting on (14-of-21) for a 66.7 percent clip.
Ripley (3-5) will host Lincoln County on January 8.
For the game; Emily Oldham added six points and four boards, Amy Ferrell had four points and three rebounds, Kensey Bergdorf had two points and a rebound and Jade Donohew had two points and eight rebounds.
