PORTSMOUTH - Former Ripley High School basketball standout Alannah Sheets was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week for her stellar play during the second week of December.

Shawnee State earned a 72-56 win over Grace on December 13 before returning on Saturday to notch a 74-64 victory over NAIA DII Indiana Wesleyan, 74-64.

The Lady Bear averaged 24.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds during the course of those two contests.
She was 16-of-32 from the field and 8-of-20 from beyond trey.

She also knocked down nine of her 10 free throw attempts for the week.

The senior guard began her week with a career best effort versus Grace. While playing 31 minutes against the Lancers, Sheets finished with a career-high 32 points. She hit five 3-pointers in the contest.

This season, Sheets is averaging a career-high 16.5 points per game and ranks second on the team.

She has started every game this season and is averaging a team-high 32.5 minutes per game. She leads the team in 3-point field goals and also ranks second in assists.

Sheets’ 29 3-pointers made this season has her tied for the Mid South Conference lead and ranks 15th in the entire NAIA.

She is sixth in the conference and 41st in the country in points per game.
