Marjorie Fleming Baker, 93, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, following a short illness.
She was born on June 14, 1920, in Ravenswood, WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Rector Fleming. She resided the majority of her lifetime in Ravenswood where she was employed at the Jackson County Library at Ravenswood until her retirement. Marjorie was a loving member of her extended family and was loved by all with whom she had contact in the community. Her pleasant tone and genuine concern for others and animals will be sorely missed.
Survivors include her nephews, William M. Karr III, of Wilmington, NC, and Frank Noll of San Diego, CA; her niece, Jane Karr, of Huntington, WV; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and her beloved cats, Skeeter and Mommy.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Baker; sisters, Jeanne Karr, Josephine Shinn and Louise Noll; nephews, David R. Karr, Sr. and Doug Shinn; and niece, Deborah Karr King.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013, at Ravenswood Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Jackson County Commission on Aging, 121 Court Street, Ripley, WV 25271.
