Rodney Leon Rhodes, 58 of Gay, Jackson County passed away suddenly on November 16, 2013 at his home.
He was born July 1, 1955 at Ripley a son of Leon Rhodes of Ripley and the late Betty Landis Rhodes. He was a 1973 graduate of Ripley High School where he enjoyed playing Football, Wrestling and Baseball. He was active in the Ripley Jaycee’s and worked in Safety and Compliance for Mountaineer Gas with 35 years of service. Rod was active in coaching youth Sports in Ripley and coached Football, Wrestling and Baseball. He was also a former Wrestling official.
In addition to his father he is survived by his wife of 39 years Linda Randolph Rhodes; sons Shawn (Tracy) Rhodes of Florida, Steve Rhodes of Scott Depot and Jeremy (Miranda) Rhodes of St. Marys; daughter Carrie (Matt) Modrzakowski of Ripley; brothers Richard Rhodes of Parkersburg and Roger (Stephanie) Rhodes of Millwood; sisters Beverly (Jerry) Anderson of Evans and Virginia (Gerald) Vance of Sandyville. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 11 am Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Pete Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
