  • KEYSER - The Chaney family was sitting on their South Main Street porch watching the Keyser Veteran's Day Parade Saturday when daughter Lisa Chaney Rodeheaver spotted a blue balloon in the crepe myrtles beside her parents' porch.
The balloon had a note attached stating, "This balloon was launched in honor of October National Head Start Awareness Month...," and adding that the balloon came from the ICS Ashland Head Start Center in Ashland, Miss.
"We checked the distance, and figured that it had traveled between 750-800 miles to our yard," Beverly Chaney told the News Tribune.
The family wrote a letter and sent it back to the school to let them know how far their balloon had traveled.
