ELLENBORO – Ravenswood’s Red Devilettes (23-21) finished as sectional runners-up at Ellenboro Tuesday night, beating Roane County in the consolation final, but falling to postseason tournament nemesis Ritchie County in the championship final. The Devilettes advance to Saturday’s regional four-team final back at Ritchie County High School at 2 p.m., where they will face the top-seed with a state tournament berth at stake.
In the consolation final Tuesday, Ravenswood eliminated Roane, 25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 25-21. Katie Buckbee led the way with 24 points. Michaela Hughes added 19, Bayli Manns 12, Jordan Strickland 10, Lauren Hoff nine, Natalie Francis six and Tia Querrey two.
Hughes was the top server at 26/26 (four aces. Strickland also served four aces. Querrey was 84/92 in sets. Buckbee led in passing (34/40) and spiking (35/41-12 kills). Hughes added six kills and Hoff and Manns four each. Manns had five blocks and Hoff four.
Cassidy Taylor paced the Lady Rebels with 21 points.
In the championship final loss to Ritchie, 25-10, 21-25, 24-26, 17-25, Buckbee scored 32 points, Hughes 14, Francis 10, Manns seven, Hoff six, Strickland and Querrey five each and Ariana Kennedy three.
Francis was the top server at 18/19 (seven aces). Buckbee served four aces and Strickland three. Querrey was 108/112 in sets. Buckbee led in passing (54/61) and spiking (35/39-20 kills). Hughes added six kills, Hoff four and Manns three. Manns had nine blocks and Hoff five.
Janessa Adams paced the Lady Rebels with 16 points.
Ravenswood defeated Roane County in the opening round of the double elimination sectional tournament Monday, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15.
Buckbee led the way with 22 points. Hughes and Manns added 17 each, Francis and Querrey five each, Hoff four and Strickland two.
Manns was the top server at 16/18 (three aces). Hughes served four aces. Querrey was 70/75 in sets. Buckbee also led in passing (33/38) and spiking (31/32-17 kills). Hughes added eight kills, Manns four and Hoff three. Francis and Manns had three blocks each and Hoff one.
Kirsty Lawrence paced the Lady Raiders with 12 points.
Ritchie County beat the Devilettes, 25-19, 25-15, 25-16, in the championship semifinals Monday.
Querrey and Buckbee scored 12 points each, Hughes nine, Manns five, Ariana Kennedy four, Bri Comer two and Francis, Hoff and Strickland one each. Querrey was the top server (14/15-three aces) and setter (63/65). Buckbee was the top passer (27/33) and spiker (31/41-eight kills). Hughes had three kills. Hoff had four blocks and Buckbee and Manns one each. Becca Sullivan paced the lady Rebels with 19 points.
