  • 1 dead, 2 injured in late- night crash

  • BURLINGTON- A single-vehicle accident late Friday night on Knobley Road, south of U.S. Route 50, left a Burlington man dead and two others injured, according to the Mineral County Sheriff's Office.
    18-year-old Brandon R. Sites died as a result of injuries suffered during the 10:19 p.m. crash that also injured two others.
    Sites was a passenger in a Chevrolet pickup that was operated by Nicholas R. Shoemaker, 18, and his brother, 22-year-old Lucas Shoemaker.
    Police said the accident occurred when the truck left the highway, struck an embankment, and overturned.
    Both of the Shoemaker men were transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland to receive treatment for their injuries suffered in the accident.
    Two ambulances from the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department and one from the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene by the Mineral County 911 center.
