Percy Weaver, Jr., 88 of Millwood, WV, passed away October 6, 2013, at Ravenswood Village, Ravenswood, WV following an extended illness.
He was born August 20, 1925, in Grafton, WV, a son of the late Percy, Sr. and Hattie (Boyce) Weaver. His brothers, Fred, Charles, Leon, Harold and John Weaver, also preceded him in death.
He was Electricians Mate in the United States Navy during WWII and served aboard the USS Major, which was a destroyer escort ship. He was a retired pipe fitter from Kaiser Aluminum and a member of United Steelworkers Union, Local #5668. He was also a member Ashton Lodge #12, AF & AM, Ravenswood, the R. Douglas Chapter # 15, Order of Eastern Star, Ravenswood, and the Grafton Post #3081 VFW, Grafton, WV.
He was a Methodist by faith, enjoyed gardening, traveling and woodworking, specializing in canes and walking sticks.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Margaret Vivian (Wright) Weaver; daughter and her husband, Constance “Connie” and Donny Fisher of Cottageville, and son and his wife, Shawn W. and Connie Weaver of Philippi, WV; stepson and his wife Steve and Pat Conley of Doswell, VA; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brother, Leroy Weaver of Baltimore, MD, and sisters, Ester Adams, Helen Wilson, Elizabeth Sullivan, and Dottie Moats, all of Grafton, WV, Freda Taylor, in New Jersey, and Dorothy Hansberger, of Baltimore, MD, and Jean Davis of Independence, WV.
Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Ravenswood, WV. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV, with military honors by VFW Post #6669, Ravenswood. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
