JACKSON COUNTY - Both Jackson County prep football teams won in convincing fashion tonight as Ripley (1-5) defeated Nitro on the road, 41-20 and Ravenswood (3-2) downed Ritchie County 43-21 on homecoming night at Flinn Field.
The Viking victory marks the first win for Ripley under first year skipper David Tennant.
Ripley's defense was stingy in the middle quarters after giving up an early score to the Wildcats. Ripley ran the ball with a purpose while catching Nitro napping and going over the top as they cruised to their first victory of the year and put a damper on the Wildcat's homecoming celebration. Quarterback Trevor Tucker was the offensive star going 9-of-12 for 185 yards in the air and rushing for 163.
Ravenswood got two first half touchdowns from Devon Crews and their defense held off Ritchie in the second half for the win.
