  • Vikings take first in GW Invitational, Lady Vikings second

  • TORNADO – Coming off a rain-soaked Covered Bridge Invitational, the Ripley Viking cross country team took advantage of a beautiful Thursday afternoon and produced a first place finish in the George Washington Invitational.
    The Vikings totaled 67 points to edge out GW, who finished with 70, for the title.
    Jake Casto led the charge with a fifth place finish in a time of 17:22.12. Remy Boyce was 8th (17:29.58), Levi Phillips was 14th (18:04.90), Antonio Jones was 15th (18:59.89) while Dalton Fisher finished 28th (18:57.92).
    Nate Miller was 36th (19:23.80), Tucker Miller finished 38th (19:32.12), Christian Fields was 53rd (20:16.17), Jared Wendell was 54th (20:26.59), Braxton Morrison was 57th (20:46.66), Justin Fields was 63rd (21:46.40) and Austin Carpenter was 68th (22:10.54).
    The Lady Vikings were second in the girls race with 66 points. Capital won the event, which featured seven teams, with 55 points.
    Molli Cunningham was Ripley's top finisher, placing ninth in a time of 22:28.38. Haley Ford was right behind her in 10th place (22:27.05). Kyndra Hill was 13th (23:02.78), Sapphire Parsons was 19th (24:10.78) while Amy Ferrell was 22nd (24:17.69).
    BryAna Stearns was 36th (26:07.35), Allison Phillips was 48th (27:46.42), Laurel Miller was 52nd (28:29.12), Alex Kelly was 58th (29:35.71) and Julia Hunter was 61st (30:55.02).
    The Ripley Middle School girls team took first place besting 10 other squads. Ripley had 27 points with Hurricane finishing second at 57.
    Tori Starcher brought home first place in a time of 11:38.42. Mackenzie Gillispie was third (12:01.86), Olivia Gandee was fourth (12:08.29), Regan Carpenter was ninth (12:42.95), Allison Knox was 12th (12:46.50), Kelly Longanacre was 13th (12:49.92), Sydni Cunningham was 34th (13:24.21), Cassidy Miller was 44th (14:05.74), Kristine Yost was 94th (16:19.84 and Kayln Parrish was 106th (16:46.65).
    The boys team at Ripley Middle placed fourth in a field of 12 teams. Andrew Swisher placed third in a time of 10:38.50 to lead the way. Bradley Yost was 11th (11:22.76), Nate Williams was 32nd (12:08.81), Morgan Galusha was 35th (12:10.66), Kai Greely-Fay was 51st (12:57.82), Walter Shouldis was 64th (13:18.25), Seth Gainey was 70th (13:23.67), Broedy Boyce was 78th (13:29.97) and Easton Berry was 89th (13:52.11).
