  • Vikings shutout Devils 4-0 in soggy showdown

  • EASTWOOD – After a scoreless first half at rain-drenched Eastwood, it was the Ripley Vikings who took command to score a 4-0 shutout of the host Ravenswood Red Devils in a cross-country boys’ soccer showdown.
    Viking leader JoJo Greely-Fay who was a difficult chore for the Red Devils all night broke the scorelss tie with an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute for a 1-0 Ripley lead.
    Just over four minutes later, Parker Lively made it 2-0 in favor of the Vikings by blasting a shot that was deflected by Ravenswood Nick Vaughn but carried into the net.
    Greely-Fay made it 3-0 in the 51st minute on a breakaway behind the Devils’ defensive wall.
    Easton Berry made the final 4-0 in the 60th minute off a cross from Greely-Fay.
    Viking keeper Caleb Jennings had five saves and Easton Berry one. The Vikings took 20 shots on goal.
    Coach Tim Ross started his seniors for their final game versus Ravenswood instead of his usual starting lineup.

    Interesting note:  Viking Head Coach Tim Ross did not start his normal rotation, but instead started his seniors for their final game with Ravenswood—Nice touch, but don’t know if you want to spin it or not
