ALTOONA, PA - Sheetz, Inc. signed a contract in August to expand into the city of Ripley with doors scheduled to open before the summer of 2015.

The Pennsylvania-based convenience store/restaurant chain currently boasts 44 locations in the mountain state and employs 15,000 at its 452 stores in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and West Virginia.
Mountain State locations include including Morgantown, Charleston, Huntington, Beckley, Bridgeport, Hurricane, Summersville and Martinsburg. Beckley boasts three locations and a fourth is under contract. Parkersburg is currently being scouted for future openings.

The Ripley Sheetz will house 16 gas pumps. Sheetz individual locations have offered their MTGo! and Shweetz Bakery lines of wraps, sandwiches, muffins, doughnuts, along with widely acclaimed Sheetz Brothers Coffeez. A full-service espresso and smoothie bar operated by a trained barista are part of the appeal.

Interestingly enough, the addition of Sheetz will secure five (including Kroger) gasoline- options for drivers within 200 yards of the intersection near Interstate 77.

After a demolition process, the facility will sit on the current site of McCoy’s Inn. The hotel must be demolished before construction can begin.

Sheetz Real Estate Manager David Hazelet confirmed the signing of a Ripley site to the Charleston Daily Mail. “We usually allow a full year after a signature to allow for construction,” said Hazelet.

Multiple efforts to speak with John Paul McCoy, Sr. about the developments were unsuccessful.
