  • JACKSON COUNTY - Both Ripley (0-4) and Ravenswood (2-1) fell to impressive opponents on Friday night as the West Virginia prep football season quickly approaches the mid-way point.
For Class AA Ravenswood, a roadtrip to Wayne High School was in order for the Red Devils. It was mostly a Pioneer celebration on this night as Wayne took down the red and black of Coach Mick Price, 57-6.
Highlights for Ravenswood included a 90-yard Issac Crow jaunt after a precise pass from quarterback Heath Burgess. A bad decision to go for a fourth and 15 allowed Wayne to score late in the first half and take an intermission lead of 19-6.
The Pioneers returned the second half kickoff 89 yards for a score as they rolled on to an impressive victory. Wayne held Ravenswwood to negative yards rushing on the night.
For the Vikings of first year head coach David Tennant, it was a night that Viking faithful will want to put in the rear view mirror rather swiftly.
Spring Valley came to Death Valley for a clash of Mountain State Athletic Conference teams that found Ripley on the wrong end of a 75-14 onslaught by the Timberwolves.
Highlights for the Vikings included a 53-yard scoring strike from Trevor Tucker to Kade Harrison in the second quarter and a 10-yard scamper by Tucker in the third.
Spring Valley rolled up 688 yards of offense while pounding the heart of the Viking defense for 583 yards rushing.
Wayne will travel to Williamstown next Friday and Ripley will host Huntington as they celebrate homecoming.
