KENNA - A Ripley woman died Thursday of injuries sustained in a storm-related, single-vehicle crash off Route 34 near Kenna Elementary School.
Kelsey Ray, 23, of Ripley, was the driver of a northbound 1997 Buick Skylark, which investigators believe hydroplaned while traveling downhill on Route 34 about one-half mile south of the Kenna school in a heavy thunderstorm just after 4 p,m.
The vehicle veered off the roadway and slammed into a tree.
Ray was transported to CAMC General, but expired.
Trooper W.F. Donohoe II of the West Virginia State Polcie detachment at Ripley investigated.
