  • RIPLEY – Braiden Campbell passed for a touchdown and ran for three more as the Ripley Middle School Vikings took down George Washington Middle School, 50-14.
The game was never in question as the Vikings (1-0) played upbeat and scored often as the first quarter opened with a 10-yard scoring run from Ripley running back Rocky Ford. GW returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown before the Vikings put their foot on the gas.
Campbell threw a beautiful 44-yard strike to talented wideout Jacob Carte to put Ripley up by a touchdown.
The second quarter was much of the same as Campbell scrambled for a 4-yard score and later in the quarter notched another 58-yard dash to the end zone for the Vikings.
The second half was all blue and white with Coach Jeff Merritt’s squad slamming the door shut on their opponent.
Campbell added a 15-yard touchdown run, Ford hit paydirt with a 47-yard scoring run and Cyrus Casto got into the act with a 40-yard gallop to the end zone last Thursday.
George Washington logged their second score on a 35-yard scoring pass play. RpMS travels to Logan to take on the Middle School Wildcats this evening.
