  • Devilette spikers win two in volleyball opener

  • ST. ALBANS – Coach Gary Braham’s Ravenswood Red Devilette volleyball team won two of three matches in their season opener—a quad—Thursday at St. Albans, The Devilettes defeated host St. Albans (25-20, 25-21) and Buffalo (25-22, 25-11), while falling to Huntington (25-14, 25-23).
    In the win over St. Albans, Katie Buckbee led the way with 15 points. Michaela Hughes added 10, Bayli Manns seven, Tia Querrey and Natalie Francis four each, Lauren Hoff three and Jordan Strickland one.
    Buckbee was 13/13 in serves, added eight kills and blocked two shots. Querrey was 54/57 in sets and Strickland was 26/33 in passing. Hughes had five kills, Manns four and Hoff and Querrey two each.
    Kasie Bowman paced St. Albans with 13 points.
    In the win over Buffalo, Hughes led the way with 12 points. Buckbee added 11, Manns seven, Francis and Hoff six each, Querrey two and Strickland one.
    Hughes served four aces. Querrey was 25/27 in sets and Strickland 12/20 in passing.
    Buckbee had nine kills, Manns and Hoff four each, Francis two and Hughes one.
    Hoff had two blocks and Manns, Francis and Buckbee one each.
    Katie Higginbothan paced the Bison with 15 points.
    In their loss to Huntington, Buckbee and Hughes scored eight points each, Manns seven and Querrey and Francis three each.
    Hughes, Buckbee and Manns served one ace each. Querrey was 35/39 in sets and Strickland 20/23 in passes.Buckbee had five kills, Hughes and Hanns four each, Francis two and Querrey one. Hoff had one block. Olivia Staples led the Highlanders with 13 points.
