  • Woman's Club to hold public meeting Tuesday

  • On Tuesday, September 10, at 6:30 p.m., at the Ripley Librarym the Woman’s Club of Ripley will hold their first fall meeting and the public is invited to hear a message from guest speaker Stewart Burkhammer, who will give a talk on his involvement with the aftermath of the attacks at the World Trade Center.

  • On Tuesday, September 10, at 6:30 p.m., at the Ripley Librarym the Woman’s Club of Ripley will hold their first fall meeting and the public is invited to hear a message from guest speaker Stewart Burkhammer, who will give a talk on his involvement with the aftermath of the attacks at the World Trade Center. Burkhammer is currently serving as principal consultant for Burkhammer Consulting Services, specializing in construction safety. He received his Liberal Arts degree from Thomas Edison State College, is a professional engineer, a certified safety professional and a Certified Occupational Safety and Health Technologist. He retired from OSHA in January 2008 after five and one-hlf years of service. Prior to this position, he spent 40 years with the Bechtel Group of Companies. During his 40-plus years as an ES&H professional, Burkhammer has managed the development of the ES&H program for the Kuwait Oil Fires Project, several nuclear and fossil power plants, and was Consulting ES&H Director to the City of New York for the World Trade Center Emergency Project in its early stages. In addition, he has chaired OSHA’s Advisory Committee for Construction Safety and Health, has served as COE and Board President for the Safety Equipment Institute, is past president of the Board of Certified Safety Professionalsand has been a keynote speaker on the topics of ES&H at several global conferences and seminars. Again, the public is invited to attend.
