KEYSER – A Cumberland man arrested early Wednesday morning for public intoxication was charged with additional offenses after he became combative and damaged a holding room at the Keyser City Police station.
Anthony A. Yurko IV, 24, was also charged with obstructing an officer and destruction of property after the 12:20 a.m. incident.
The incident began when Keyser Police officers responding to an alarm at the Orioles Club observed Yurko staggering outside the building, police said. He was cited for public intoxication, and taken to the police station on North Davis Street after he became belligerent.
During processing at the station, police said, Yurko became violently disruptive, ignoring officers' commands and kicking holes in the station's holding room door. Officers both handcuffed Yurko and shackled his feet, and at one point employed pepper spray against the 5-foot-9, 185-pound subject.
Yurko remained jailed late Wednesday morning at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail.
