  • EASTWOOD – For new head coach Debbie Scritchfield and assistants J.D Scritchfield and Steve Cogar, the task is a daunting one. They must replace a group of seniors who played together all the way up from rec league and address a bevy of issues including the graduation loss of an All-State keeper, premier defender and one of their two top scorers.
In 2012, Coach Kim Sheets' 8-9-2 Lady Red Devils battled injuries and a rugged schedule, with senior goal keeper Anna Flesher and senior defender Jordan Danko topping the postseason honors by being named to the 2012 Class AA-A All-State Second Team. The Lady Red Devils' top scorers, senior Erica Cullen and junior Bess McNabb were on the 2012 Class AA-A All-State Honorable Mention list. For 2013, only senior-to-be Bess McNabb is back. Flesher, Danko and Cullen are graduated along with scrappy midfielder Alex McNabb, Jordan Sheets, Kassie Johnson, Marta Corbin, Alex Vaughn.
Also back for 2013 are Kayla Scritchfield, Georgie Fitzwater, Amber Hannum, Summer Perry, Kendra Vaughn, Cari Mize, Alissa Givens and Charity Martinez who have playing experience and will be counted on to step up. The coaches are also counting on immediate help from a group of physical, athletic freshman including Claudia Cubides, Haylie Reynolds and Chesney Hudson.
