BARBOURSVILLE - The Ripley Little League 11/12 Softball All Stars dropped two tight games over the weekend after State tournament play began on Friday after a banquet on Thursday night at Barboursville City park.

On Friday, the girls faced Grant County, a squad who eliminated them last year in a semifinal game. Jahlea Bumpust hurled a fantastic game that allowed her squad the chance to win but the Lady Viking bats were silent as Grant County won, 2-1. Bumpus hurled six innings and gave up only two runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts. In the hitting department, Katie Sinclair went 1-for-3, Bumpus went 1-for-3 with a run scored, Ashley Casto went 1-for-1, Sarah Brannon was 1-for-1, Jamie Crawford walked and had an RBI and Cassidy young reached on an error.

On Saturday, Ripley took on Boone Northern, who had defeated them in a seeding game last week, 4-3.
It was another one run loss for Ripley as Boone Northern advanced to single elimination play on Monday with a 5-4 victory. Jaelyn Hunt scattered only three hits over six innings for Ripley as she walked three and struck out four in a solid performance from the hill.

Katie Sinclair was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Cassidy Young was 1-for-3 with a run scored, Jahlea Bumpus went 1-for-3 with a run, Jamie Crawford went 1-for-3 with a run, Taylor Johnson was 1-for-2, hunt walked and Sarah Brannon was 1-for-1.
