  • The C-Teens Club of Ripley High School, along with Andrea Tedford Anderson and Jennifer Gibson, are pleased to announce that there will be a 'Craftin For Gavin' fundraiser in the Ripley High School Annex building today (July 13). There will be a craft sale (over 20 vendors), a silent auction (including some donated celebrity items), and a bake sale. Lunch will also be available. Everything will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.(except the silent auction, which will end at 3 p.m.). The fundraiser will benefit Gavin Morris and his family. Gavin is three-years-old and is fighting a relapse of Stage IV Neuroblastoma cancer. His family has recently had to relocate from Ripley to Philadelphia so that Gavin can receive the treatments that he needs to, once and for all, beat cancer. Please come out and help us BE GAVIN STRONG for this family. On Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at cedar lakes, we will get the chance to show that our community is GAVIN STRONG by participating in a 5K run/walk to benefit Gavin Morris, a local three-year-old and his family. Being "Gavin Strong" has become a well-known battle cry for this family that has helped them keep positive and tough as they have battled Gavin's illness. Last year, when Gavin was only two, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer. (the term "neuro" refers to nerves and "blastoma" refers to a cancer that affects immature or developing cells.) This type of cancer occurs in infants and young children. To help fund the fight that this determined and strong little boy needs to win, all proceeds from this race will go directly to Gavin's family. There is much to do the day of the race. There will be several fun things for kids and their families; inflatables, face painting, a dunking booth, races for kids and concessions will be available. Cost of the race is $30 ($15 for kids with paying adult--this deal not available online) and includes a great t-shirt. Register at Athletic Outfitters in ripley online at www.theracedeal.com. You can also register on the day of race starting at 8:30 for $35, but please register early to assure your shirt size being available on race day. Let's all join together and be GAVIN STRONG!!!
