BARBOURSVILLE - Sometimes, if you do something enough it becomes easier. This thinking doesn’t quite apply to Ripley Little League’s 11/12 softball all-stars.
The squad will take the field in Barboursville on Friday evening and face Grant County at 3 p.m. for what will be a rematch of the semifinal game that knocked Ripley out of the tourney last season in a tight 2-0 contest.
Ripley’s 11/12 girls have been to the State Tournament for five straight years. Manager Chuck Bumpus has respect for the streak.
“It’s something you want to keep going for the girls. They take a lot of pride in it and so does the community,” said Bumpus.
The squad takes on Boone Northern on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. in Barboursville as the top two teams in pool play will advance to single elimination play on Monday.
Boone Northern defeated Ripley in a seeding game, 4-3.
Previously, Ripley defeated Ravenswood 25-2 in pool play at Hurricane. Jaelyn Hunt pitched two innings giving up two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
