RIPLEY - Next summer's Duck Dynasty Cruise will be a perfect fit—a perfect wish come true for 11-, soon to be 12-year-old Adam Hoschar.

Hoschar has battled cancer for two years—two years of chemotherapy and radiation.
Hoschar was nominated by Dr. Billie Toler and approved by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern West Virginia, but debated what his wish would be. He dreamed about taking an ocean cruise with his family and about meeting the cast of his favorite TV show, "Duck Dynasty."

"We really wanted to wait until he was well," said his mother Julie, who will be along with her son on his dream trip with father Shane and brother Andy, now 16. "He was in the program a long, long time ago. Then, this Duck Dynasty Crusie came along and we knew it would be the perfect thing."

Jo Beth Smith of Make-A-Wish was able to move quickly to arrange for the family to take the August 17-21, 2014 cruise with the Duck Dynasty cast from Miami, FL, to Key West and Cozumel, Mexico before tickets sold out.

Smith and other Make-A-Wish representatives surprised the Hoschars on the evening of July 3, as they were working on the Main Street Medical/Ripley Drug float for the Ripley Fourth of July Parade on Parchment Valley Road. Even Julie Hoschar was unaware that the dream cruise had been finalized.

West Virginia State Police Trooper Chip Donohoe led a small caravan of vehicles to the location for the surprise presentation which included tossed rubber duckies and the blowing of duck calls.

"We thought someone was in trouble," said Julie with a grin in reference to the unexpected arrival of the State Police cruiser.

Adam Hoschar and family were indeed surprised. A goodie bag containing Duck Dynasty tee shirts announced Adam's dream come true. There were plenty of hugs, applause and tears to go around.

Still in a state of shock over the surprise, Adam managed to say that his favorite cast member is Si Robertson, but that he also likes Phil and Jase. He also confided that his likes Sweet Tea, which will be a requirement while cruising with the Duck Dynasty Robertson clan.
Hey! That's a fact, Jack!
