RIPLEY – The Ripley High School baseball team was victorious in an 8-2 romp over Marietta High at Ray Swisher Field at Viking Park on Friday night. The scrimmage game brought the Vikes record to (1-1).

Sophomore-to-be lefty Logan McCoy was particularly stingy on this night as he has been in his young Viking pitching career. The young ace hurled a complete game while giving up 2 earned runs and striking out nine Marietta hitters. As has been McCoy's mode of operation, he walked zero batters to earn the win.

McCoy effectively changed speeds and had his Uncle Charlie (curve) working on this night keeping Tiger hitters off balance and often, bewildered.

Marietta opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the fourth inning before the Vikings exploded with seven in the bottom of the frame.

Jonny Stepp went 3-for-3 on the night, Lane Casto was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, Alex Hambrick went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Easton Berry was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, McCoy, Aaron Wilkinson, Scott Cremeans all singled.
Ripley had nine hits and made just one error in the contest.
