RIPLEY - Ripley High School's 2013 State Tournament softball team had six girls receive recognition from the Mountain State Athletic Conference for their superb play in the field and at the dish.

Junior Dusti Fisher took top honors by landing on the first team as an outfielder. Fisher batted (.385) and played a virtually flawless right field for Coach Kenny Swisher's team.

Joining Fisher on first team is Meghan Brannon who was hitting (.530) when her season was cut short after a hand injury that required surgery after an April 12 matchup with Saint Albans.

Junior Chelsey Hager, who hit (.378) and notched an earned run average under one this season on the hill took second team honors.Sophomore catcher Ashley Mellinger and freshman infielder Kelsey Moore took Special Honorable Mention honors and senior centerfielder Ali Cunningham notched an Honorable Mention selection.

"Our girls were very deserving of recognition from the conference and it is the result of lots of hard work on their part," said Swisher.

Class AAA State Champion Hurricane boasts the Coach of the Year in Josh Caldwell and Morgan Zerkle of Cabell Midland was named 213 Player of the Year.
