ELLENBORO – While all 12 of the regional track and field meets in West Virginia were scheduled to be completed by late Friday night, the Class AA Region 1 affair didn’t finish up until Saturday. It was a meet that included both the Ravenswood High School girls and boys teams.

The meet was halted at Chuck Schofield Memorial Stadium on the Ritchie County High campus due to a downed power line in the area. Repairs could not be done in time to continue the meet Friday evening, therefore, things picked back up Saturday afternoon.

In the girls division, the Devilettes of head coach Renee Swisher scored 19 points.

Hailey Miller had the top showing for Ravenswood, placing second in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.00.

Taylor Treadway was fourth in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:17.96.

Ravenswood had three fifth place finishes with Miller in the 200 meters (28.41), Treadway in the 1600 (5:52.65) and Taylor Love in the 3200 (13:16.79). Miller also placed sixth in the 100 meters (13.61).

Miller and Treadway both move on to the State Meet. Miller will compete at Charleston’s UC Stadium Friday and Saturday in the 100 and 400 while Treadway will run both the 3200 and 1600.

The Ravenswood Red Devil boys team scored one point in the meet as senior Luke Sadecky placed sixth in the 1600 (4:57.04).

A frustrating moment for the Devils occurred in the 100 meters. Senior Andrew Ely had posted the top time (11.56) during qualifying. However, in the finals he was disqualified for a false start. Had Ely at least equaled his time in the time trials he would have placed second in the competition and moved on to the State Meet.
