RIPLEY - It was a perfect day for baseball as an enthusiastic crowd cheered on Jackson County’s Middle School baseball programs in a battle to move on in the MVAC Tournament.
Mike Ruben was in “Rube’s Roost” and his golden voice gave the matchup a varsity atmosphere at Ray Swisher Field at Viking Park.
While the scoreboard posted big hitting numbers, Lakin Tucker was able to get a big win for his team and Nathan Curtis got the save for the Demons in relief.
The Demons, winners of five in a row, have improved to (6-8) on the season.
Both teams were in attack mode as the lead changed early and often before Ravenswood pulled away for good.
In the hitting department for Ravenswood, Nathan Curtis went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, Blake Bennett was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Chase Swain went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, Stephen Dawson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
For Ripley (11-5), the defending conference champs, Remy Boyce was 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, a run and an RBI, Brayden Campbell was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and a walk, Lane Casto was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run, Anthony Jarvis was 1-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base and Josh Sinclair was 1-for-1 with a walk.
On the mound, Remy Boyce started the game for the Vikings. He went two innings and walked two, gave up two hits and five earned runs.
Lane Casto went 2/3 of an inning and struck out one, walked two, gave up two hits and a run. Rocky Ford went 1/3 of an inning and gave up a hit.
For the Demons, Lakin Tucker was the starter and he went three innings giving up four walks, six hits and five runs.
Nathan Curtis went four innings while striking out four, walking one and surrendering one hit.
