Cecil Earnest Hill, 81, of Cottageville, WV, passed away May 1, 2013, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Huntington, WV.
He was born July 4, 1931, in Cottageville, a son of the late Walter and Minerva (King) Hill. His brothers, Dencil Hill and Danny Linville, and sisters, Osie Mae Rardin and Ella “Midge” Riffle, and a grandson, Jason Eades, also preceded him in death.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a retired heavy equipment operator from Foote Mineral. He was a longstanding member of the Creston Cemetery Association, a member of the Jackson County Horse Club, Inc., the Baden Community Center, and the American Tractor pulling Association. He enjoyed hunting, and playing setback.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mildred Lucille (Canter) Hill, sons, John E. Hill (Tina Benson) of Cottageville, Cecil Robert (Linda) Hill of Mt. Alto, daughters, Susan (Doug) Eades, Pat Westmoreland and Debbie Mahood (Mitch Houchen) all of Cottageville, grandchildren, Gerrod Eades, Scott Hill and Stacy Hill, one great-grandchild, Jaylen Hill, and a special friend, Lisa Mead.
Funeral service was Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with Pastor Steve Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in the Creston Cemetery, Evans, with military honors by American Legion Post 107, Ripley. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
