CHARLESTON – The Ripley High softball team is beginning to stretch their muscles. The squad eliminated Capital High from Region 3 Section 4 play earlier in the week and took the first of a three game playoff series from Riverside, 4-0 last night (Thursday) that will decide the Section Championship.
Ripley (21-8) will travel to Chucktown again today as they fight to snag the title with a victory over the Lady Warriors (19-15).
The winner of the section will advance to play South Charleston in Regional competition.
Chelsey Hager hurled a complete game giving up six hits while fanning five for Ripley. Myranda Murphy led the Viking hit parade with two RBI hits in the contest.
Hager finished the regular Season (10-4) with a 1.05 earned run average.
Hager and Dusti Fisher also had RBI singles in the game for Ripley.
If the Lady Vikings were to fall tonight, a decisive third game would take place on Saturday at Riverside.
