KIDWELL – Ravenswood southpaw Jesse Brown twirled a no-hitter missing a perfect game by just one walk, and Coach Wes Swain's Red Devils swept a road doubleheader Saturday at Tyler Consolidated.
Ravenswood won the first game of the twinbill, 11-0, behind 14 strikeouts by Brown and a single walk. Brown allowed no Silver Knight hits.
In the meantime, the Red Devils banged out 12 hits, scoring four runs in the top of the first, two each in the second third and sixth and a single run un the fourth.
Ben Johnson led the attack with a 2-for-3 game including a double and three RBIs. Will Schindler was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI; and Heath Burgess, 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
In the second game, lefty James Carmichael got the pitching win in a 22-2, five-inning blowout. Carmichael tossed three innings, fanning one, walking two and scattering four hits. Jonathon Watkins pitched an inning, fanning two and allowing one hit. Zack Miller pitched an inning, fanning three and allowing one hit.
At the plate, Nic Ballard went 3-for 3 with a double and five RBIs to lead the Devils. Logan Jarrett was 3-for-4 and Thomas Sturm, 2-for-4.
