  • Devilettes no-hit Calhoun twice, Casto shines

  • EASTWOOD - Devilette sophomore ace Savana Casto came one walk short of pitching a “perfect” game Wednesday at Eastwood, fanning 15 Calhoun County batters in a 8-0, five-inning shutout.
    Casto’s lone hiccup came in the seven inning as she walked a batter before recovering to fan the final three batters in order to end the game.
    For the game, she fanned 15, walked one and allowed no hits over five innings of work.
    Ravenswood grabbed a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, added a single run in the third and three more in the fourth.
    Casto helped her stellar pitching performance with the bat by belting an RBI triple and an RBI double. Sidnee Morgan (RBI) added a pair of doubles; Mackenzie Stutler (RBI), two singles; and Heather Randolph, a double.
    Ali Hickel took the loss for the Calhoun Lady Red Devils, fanning five , walking one and allowing seven hits.
    In the second game of a doubleheader, Hickel walked the first three batters and Ravenswood exploded for 11 runs in the top of the first inning on their way to a 26-0, three-inning win.
    Hickel fanned three, walked 10 and allowed 16 Devilette hits.
    Lone senior Holly Chiles, who was honored in “Senior Night” ceremonies between games, got the pitching win, fanning three, walking five and allowing no hits.
    Mackenzie Stutler (four RBIs) swatted a double and single; Ciara Trouille (three RBIs), a double and single; Sidnee Morgan (two RBIs), a triple and single;
    Jordan Strickland (triple), a triple; Dezirae Lester (two RBIs), two singles; Heather Randolph (two RBIs), single; Holly Chiles, double; Lexi Price (RBI) single; and Savanah Casto, single.The Devilettes travel to Wirt County tomorrow.
