RIPLEY - The Ripley Middle School baseball team defeated Wahama on Thursday night 14-3 at Ray Swisher Field at Viking Park.
Ripley jumped out to a early 2-0 lead and never turned back. Lane Casto stole five bases in the game, keeping Wahama pitchers on their toes.
Ripley hitters feasted on Wahama pitching. Anthony Jarvis was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases, Casto was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored, Brennan barr was 1-for-1 with a stolen base and an RBI, Jacob Brannan was 1-for-1 with a stolen base, Remy Boyce was 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored, Drew Izold was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Ryan Shatto was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Rocky Ford was 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Anthony Jarvis started the game on the hill and went three innings and struck out seven hitters and surrendered three runs. Lane Cast threw two innings and fanned two batters while giving up no runs.
"This was our best effort of the season as we made zero errors and played good fundamental baseball," said coach Victor Boyce.
The Vikings took the second game Wahama 9-8 and defeated Chapmanville 7-1 on Saturday.
Versus Hurricane on Monday, the boys in blue edged the Redskins, 3-2. Ripley rode a strong pitching performance from Anthony Jarvis who hurled five innings and struck out six batters. Brayden Campbell went 2/3 of an inning and walked three batters, gave up a hit and one run and Lane Casto went 1./3 of an inning and gave up two hits and struck out one to end the game.
Campbell had two hits, scored two runs and a stolen base. Anthony Jarvis had a hit, Rocky ford had a hit and an RBI and Drew Izold had a hit.
