  • Jarrell Harvey Snodgrass, 88, of Ripley, entered into heaven Sunday, April 14, 2013 at home following a long illness.
He was born December 30, 1924 at Davis Creek, WV, son of the late Truman and Eva Hudson Snodgrass. A graduate of South Charleston High School, he served his country during WW-II in the U.S. Army and was a combat veteran with several awards and ribbons, including the purple heart. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum in 1988 as a mill operator.
Jarrell was a longtime Christian who lived every day in the service of God. No matter the issue, he was never heard in gossip or speaking ill of anyone. His normal response was to pray for the person or situation in true Christian fashion. He was a founding member of both the Ravenswood and Ripley Churches of the Nazarene where he actually helped build the church in Ravenswood, donating his entire ten weeks of vacation from Kaiser to the project. He was a current member of the Ripley Church of the Nazarene and had served as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. Jarrell was known for his gentle demeanor and kind spirit.
Surviving: His wife of 65 years, Delphine Griest Snodgrass; Son, Dennis Snodgrass (Karen) of Liberty Township ; Daughters, Diana Perry (Rev. Ronald Perry), of Charleston, Sherry Willis (Chuck), of Nashville, TN and Kim Drennen (Dana) of Ripley; Brother, Marvin Snodgrass (Linda) of Barboursville; Sister, Martha Meadows (Homer) of Culloden; Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jarrell was preceded in death by one brother, Sterling Snodgrass of Scott Depot.
A celebration of Jarrell’s life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Ripley Church of the Nazarene with his son-in-law, Rev. Ron Perry, officiating. Interment will take place at 4 p.m. at Graceland Memorial Park, Davis Creek.
