RAVENSWOOD - Ravenswood Boys' Tennis picked up their first dual match win of the season at home Wednesday, beating the Ritchie County Rebels, 6-1.

Coach Butch Varney's Red Devils won all four singles matches. Sophomore Sean Matics (2-1)won his second singles match of the season, while sophomore Ethan Cross, senior Michael Danishanko and junior Logan Tucker all won their first singles' matches.

At #1 Singles, Cross blanked Noah Laugh, 8-0. At #2 Singles, Matics defeated Zach Bishop, 8-4. At #3 Singles, Danishanko beat Hunter Bishop, 8-4; and at #4 Singles defeated Kyle Knuston, 8-3.

In Doubles,#1 Cross/Matics (Rav) defeated Laugh/H. Bishop, 8-1. At #2 Doubles, Z.Bishop/Knuston (Ritchie) defeated Danishanko/Tucker, 9-7. At #3 Doubles, Elias McKown/Kurt Tennant (Rav) defeated Gavin Vincent/Kevin Cantrell, 8-2.

On the girls' side, Ravenswood had to play without the services of still ailing senior Alex McNabb, and fell to the Rebels, 5-2.

Ravenswood lone wins came at #2 Singles, where unbeaten Taylory Youell (3-0) beat Olivia Haught, 8-3; and #4 Kerigan Crow blanked Antonia Bonnell, 8-0.

At #1 Singles, Veronica Mueller won by forfeit in McNabb's absence; and #3 Bess McNabb lost a hard-fought match, 8-5, to Jessie West of Ritchie County.

In Doubles, #1 Mueller/Haught (Ritchie) defeated Youell/B.McNabb, 8-3; #2 West/Olivia Goff (Ritchie) defeated Crow/Jordan Sheets, 8-5; and #3 Jordan Danko/Jordan Matics led 4-0 but lost their first match of the season, 8-6 to Ritchie's Jaccie Haugh/Mikayla Hayes.
Ravensowd travels to Bethany College Saturday for a triple tennis tussle with Oak Glen and Weir.
