  • PARKERSBURG - Sometimes in the game of baseball the numbers don’t justify the result. Ravenswood High junior hurler Jesse Brown found this out on Tuesday evening.
Brown pitched a fantastic game for the Red Devils and gave his squad a chance to knock off Class A No. 5 ranked Parkersburg Catholic on the road.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the cards on this night and Ravenswood (5-9) fell to the undefeated Crusaders, 4-2. Brown hurled a complete game while giving up only one earned run on three hits. He fanned seven Crusaders and issued only two free passes for coach Wes Swain’s crew.
Fielding errors and the lack of timely hitting scalded the Devils on this day. The Devils drew only a single walk but went down swinging only four times.
At the plate for Ravenswood, Will Schindler went 2-for-4, Logan Jarrett was 1-for-4, Devon Crews was 2-for-4 and scored a run, Isaac Crown had an RBI, Trey Hatcher was 1-for-3, Heath Burgess scored a run, Ben Johnson had an RBI, Brown was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and Thomas Sturm was 1-for-2 with a walk. The Devils host Ritchie County tomorrow evening.
