  • WINSTON SALEM - Former Ripley High School All American guard Chase Fischer is on the move. On March 28 Wake Forest University head coach Jeff Bzdelik announced that Fischer will be leaving the Demon Deacon program and transferring to another school.
Fischer will leave the school after the spring semester has concluded. The shooting guard is the ninth player to leave the program over the last three years and was only one of three non-freshman on scholarship for the division one Atlantic Coast Conference basketball program.
"Chase has been a great representative of our program over the past two seasons," said Bzdelik in a Demon Deacon press release. "We appreciate all of his hard work and wish him the best in the future."
Fischer led West Virginia preps in scoring as a junior and senior while netting 37.0 PPG in his final season as a Ripley High Viking. In two years as a Demon Deacon, Fischer averaged 6.3 points per game as a freshman and 4.5 points per game as a sophomore. He scored in double figures 14 times, posting a career-high 15 points against High Point last season.
Fischer was a former Marshall University commit before signing with the Deacons. It remains unclear if Fischer will enroll in school closer to home in West Virginia.
If the 6-3 scorer transfers to another Division 1 program, he will have to sit out for one season. A message left for Fischer wasn't immediately returned.
