Frances Lucille Bourgeois Keebaugh, 90, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away March 17, 2013 at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV.
She was born February 19, 1923 in Jackson County, WV, to Cyrus Nathan “Nate” Bourgeois and Desta Violet Williams Bourgeois
Lucille was a homemaker and mother.
She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Flatwoods United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Happy Homemakers Extension for several years; a 4-H leader for over 40 years; and was a 4-H leader of Hemlock Hillbillies 4-H Club. Lucille and her husband had been members of the Jackson County Junior Fair for over 42 years. Lucille earned the ‘E’ Pin working at Ames Shovel Plant during World War II, 1942-43. She was a resident of the Hemlock Area and caretaker of the Hemlock Community Building for many, many, years.
She loved canning, gardening, making apple butter, knotting quilts, and spending time with special companion, her dog, Brownie.
Survivors include: daughters: Virginia Carolyn Skinner, Illinois; Juanita Frances Burgess, Ravenswood, WV; Opal Irene Keebaugh Johns and spouse Terry , Ripley, WV; and Ruth Fern Keebaugh Grimmett and spouse, Patrick, Garner, NC.
Sons: Kenneth Ray Keebaugh and spouse Patsy, Ravenswood, WV; and Wilmer Royal Keebaugh and spouse Pat, Evans, WV.
Miss Lucille also leaves behind 17 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren; half-brother: William Bourgeois, California;
Her Sister: Mary Elizabeth Shatto, Ripley, WV:
Honorary Children: Tim (Janet) Somerville, Ravenswood, WV; and Charlie Pence, Flatwoods, WV.
Miss Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; Her husband William, “Bill“ Keebaugh; brothers, Robert Warren, Elmer Seamon, and Lester “Jack”, Roland Gilbert, and Nathan Lloyd Duane Bourgeois; and sister, Juanita Bourgeois Harmon.
Services are Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Lakes, Ripley, WV
