Patrolman R.J. Knox of the Ravenswood Police Department investigated a three-car motor vehicle accident that occurred on Washington Street at the off-ramp of the Ritchie Bridge Sunday. Ravenswood Patrolman N. A. Cummings and first responders assisted Knox on the scene.
Kelly Summers of Crab Orchard, WV, was coming off the ramp of the Ritchie Bridge in her 2006 Ford Fusion with three passengers, Travis Summers, Savannah Summers and Samantha Garrett, when she continued through onto Washington Street colliding with a green 1998 Buick Park Avenue. The vehicle was operated by Deborah Vandall of Ravenswood and was traveling north on Washington Street.
The impact caused Vandall’s vehicle to slide sideways into the southbound lane on Washington Street and make contact with a silver 2011 Chevy Cruz operated by Sheila Humphreys of Pataskala, OH. Humphries had stopped on Washington Street, and was waiting to turn left onto the Ritchie Bridge.
The impact from Vandall’s vehicle pushed Humphreys’ car across the northbound lane until the car rested on the side of the road near the parking lot of Hartley Oil.
Summers stated that she was driving off the bridge and turned left, and that she did not see the stop sign.
Garrett, who is pregnant, was transported to CAMC Womens and Children’s Hospital located in Charleston to be checked out. There was no word on her condition.
