Ivy Bell Tolley, age 91, of Mount Airy, MD, formerly of Mecca Twp. OH, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Lorien-Mt. Airy Nursing Facility in Mount Airy, MD.
She was born on January 22, 1922 in Gay, WV, a daughter of the late Flavius Jocephus McClain and the late Rulina Stalnaker McClain.
Ivy worked as a homemaker and lived in Mecca Twp. for 56 years before moving to Mount Airy to live with her daughter for the past 10 years. Ivy was active with the Mecca Community Church where she had been a member since 1955. She was a charter member of the Mecca Fire Department Auxiliary, the Mecca Travel Club and the Mecca Grange.
She is survived by her daughter, Lenora J. (Tom) Kish of Mount Airy, MD; two sons, Melvin R. (Wanda) Tolley of Mecca, OH and Gary L. (Dixie) Tolley of Letart, WV; two brothers, Ernest McClain of Nashville, TN and Orin McClain of Cottageville, WV as well as two sisters, Bonnie DeWees of Ripley, WV and Lorene Lupardus of Harmany, WV. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Kimberly Biro, Julie Worley, Jeffrey Kish, Matthew Tolley, Pamela Simmons, John Tolley, Teresa Tolley, Lori Morton, Kevin Tolley, Gary Tolley and Stephanie Federspiel, as well as twenty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Ivy was preceded in death by her Her husband, Otho Jennings Tolley Sr., whom she married on February 13, 1938, on June 20, 1987; her son, Otho J. Tolley Jr., five brothers, Elman, Claud, Chester, Jerry and Marlin McClain as well as three sisters, Eva Clark, Alice McClain and Dorothy Harpold.
The family received friends on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Mecca Community Church.
Services were held on Saturday at the church where Rev. Charles Kindle Jr. officiated.
Burial followed at the East Mecca Twp. Cemetery.
