SPENCER - Mick Price was hoping his Ravenswood Red Devils could seize the opportunity of catching Roane County on a down note.

The Raiders, tied for ninth with Bridgeport in the latest Associated Press Class AA poll, were coming off a loss on Monday night to Clay County.

The Raiders utilized the 3-point line and in doing so kept Ravenswood out of reach most of the evening in Tuesday night showdown at The Castle in Spencer on the RCHS campus. Roane took the Devils down on this night, 58-50.

"We just didn't play hard enough, at least in the first half," said Price. "We had our chances if we had played harder."
Roane led by as many as 16 at one point in the game. Ravenswood, though, kept clawing back.

Unfortunately, every time there appeared to be hope, Roane had an answer.

"We would get it under 10 and they would hit a 3," said Price.

In all, the Raiders had eight in the game. J.C. Nichols had three while Jacob Neal and Tyler Harper each knocked in two.
Roane had a plethora of players in the scoring column, but only Neal hit for double figures with 12.

Ravenswood got a game-high 25 points from Jake Martin. Heath Burgess, Dalton Gandee and Dylan Radabaugh each had six poings in the game. Matt Peery had five and Jon Crow scored two.

Ravenswood hit 21 field goals in the game, including five 3-pointers. Martin had three and Gandee two.
Ravenswood was 3-of-9 at the line.

The Devils trailed at the end of one, 19-12. Roane also outscored Ravenswood in the second (17-14) and in the third (9-8). Ravenswood owned a 16-13 advantage in the final quarter.

The victory gives Roane a sweep of the Devils in the 2012-13 season. In fact, the two wins are the first-ever for Roane over Ravenswood since the school was formed in 1993.

Ravenswood is set to meet either South Harrison or Braxton County on the road Thursday evening in a Little Kanawha Conference placement game.
