  • RIPLEY – Ripley Middle School guard Jamison Hunt scored 40 points on Thursday night to lead the Vikings to a 83-27 victory over visiting Spencer.
Hunt did it from long range and off the dribble on this night as the Yellowjackets had absolutely no defensive answer for ole' number 33.
The boys in blue went on a 23-5 run to start the game and led 41-7 at the half as they never looked back and cruised to the easy victory.
The Vikes stayed in their half-court zone defense the entire game and refrained from pressing the outmanned Yellowjackets.
Hunt hit five 3-point bombs in the game and was (5-for-6) from the charity stripe.
Coach Mark Wayne spoke proudly about Hunt's performance.
"Jamison had it going and deserved a big night. He is a great kid and is one of the hardest working young players in the country. He has had ups and downs and at times hasn't played as well as he hoped he would but he has done everything we have asked him to do in the last three years. We need him to play with some swagger next week against Winfield. He will be the dangerous player leading the way."
For the game, every player scored in the game. Elijah Riffe had nine, Chase Johnson seven, Nathan Hall six, Eli Casto (career high) six, Griffin Durst (lone seventh grader) six, Garrett Robertson four, J.T.Rollins three and Todd Withrow two.
The Vikings hit the court again tonight when they travel to Wiinfield.
The Generals defeated Ripley in last season's conference championship game.
